This picture shows a section of a medium sized, painted backdrop (acrylics on canvas) for Live From Baghdad (HBO), that I painted when I worked as scenic artist. Scenic artists use unique techniques developed for films to create huge paintings under tight time schedules. The results are usually loosely painted and spattered, from close view almost abstract looking backdrops, that - when compressed into the film frame - should look photogaphic.
