This image shows sections of a medium sized, painted backdrop (acrylics on canvas) for Roswell (TV), that I painted when I worked as scenic artist. Scenic artists use unique techniques developed for films to create huge paintings in a matter of days. The results are usually loosely painted and spattered, from close view almost abstract looking backdrops, that - when compressed into the film frame - hold up very well.
